Yoogo Fleet was founded in 2013 by established local industry experts under the premise that there is simply a better way to approach fleet management and vehicle leasing, specifically for New Zealand businesses.
Our founders saw an opportunity to offer a personalised service that could only be provided by a team with local leadership on the ground and locally based operations. This enabled Yoogo Fleet to be nimble and move swiftly to innovate and have strong local relationships with our customers and suppliers. We see this as a distinct advantage compared with some of our rigid multinational competitors.
- Yoogo Fleet has always been at the forefront of innovation and technology. We introduced a New Zealand first—a fully integrated telemetry-based asset management platform across our entire fleet portfolio. This cutting-edge technology enables us to use real-time data to effectively meet our customers' needs, providing insights into fleet utilisation, cost optimisation, and key sustainability metrics, including CO2 emissions reporting.
- Yoogo Fleet is a division of Speirs Finance Group, a company with a rich history dating back to the 1960s when it was founded by Nelson Speirs in the Manawatu. Nelson's legacy in finance includes pioneering car leasing in New Zealand. On October 1, 1979, Speirs Finance facilitated its first car lease, marking the beginning of a journey that transformed how New Zealanders acquired and managed vehicles. Despite an inauspicious start—with the initial lease to a farmer in Reporoa ending in a 'write-off' - this setback only fuelled the determination to improve and innovate. Over time, the company shifted its focus from operating leases to finance leases and found its first significant customer in Borthwicks, a prominent New Zealand freezing works company.
